Scene Building Beauties!

I hope that you are all doing well. We are now finding ourselves in the heat of summer here in the northern hemisphere and it is a hot one! I do not have a green thumb, so the card I am showcasing today is going to be the closest that I will ever get. (lol)

On my last post, I said that I would be following it with a post focusing on scene building on our cards. This can be done in a variety of ways including using windows on the outside, windows to a scene on the inside, shaker cards, framing a scene, or using background stamps. For now, I decided to utilize my masking skills to create a cute little gardening table scene on the card below.

The stamp set that is featured here is called Garden Grow by Altenew. I used a bunch of the designs that come in this stamp set to create this cute little scene. The boots in this are probably my favorite. I can see myself using them with other stamp sets for other themes, like with an umbrella or using them on more of a masculine card. The set even comes with cute little hearts and an adorable little butterfly!

I decided the best way to do this card with all the components would be to die cut the images out on my masking paper and go from there. Once I created the little scene, I brought in one of my favorite mediums, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I love how the markers are vibrant and give a great watercolor effect to anything I use them on. I decided to use the shovels in the set to frame the card at the bottom with some added pizzazz! I then reused the masked die cuts again, and decided to ink blend the background with some Distress Oxide Ink’s. I thought that Dried Marigold was a bright and cheery color that really made the elements pop on the card. For the sentiment, I used “enjoy the little things” from the Fancy Frame stamp set from Altenew as well. To make the sentiment stand out, I used some 3D foam squares and used some Ripe Persimmon directly on the edges as like a frame. I then used the same dimensional foam squares to adhere the card onto an A6 Kraft card blank from Craft Perfect. The instant I put the kraft card behind the card front, I knew it was absolutely perfect! It really makes the entire card stand out.

To finish this card off I wanted to add some more dimension. This is a one layer card besides the added sentiment, so I got out my stash of Nuvo Drops! I didn’t want to cover up all of the Zig Markers and the watercolor effect that they have, so I added it on the edges, and where you would find some shadows.

I don’t do a lot of “scene building” cards, but I must say, this was a lot of fun! I think I will have to invest in some more stamp sets that will allow me to do this, and to advance my skills. I hope that you try it out and let me know what you think. Oh, and a hint for my next post? Well, let’s just say that you should bring those summer sun glasses, and be ready for some bling! In the meantime, as always, remember we can bring hope to the world around us, with just one card at a time. Love Liz
