Hello all! I hope that this post finds you well! It is yet another week and we are now at the weekend after Father’s Day. I am soo sorry I didn’t get this posted sooner, but just like you, I am sure, things have been busy. It is officially summer and we have so much going on and so much to look forward to. Today’s card is going to focus on the men in our lives. This means, lots of cooler colors like blue and green, and geometric shapes to top it off. Although this card took a while to watercolor, I really enjoyed the relaxation that it brought me.
Below, you will find a card I made for my own dad. I used the Altenew Breath Stamp set for the main geometric design. Although this is a very detailed and almost whimsical design, I used my Zig Clean Color Markers in a cooler tone of colors like green and blue to make it more appealing to the men in our lives. The splash of yellow was to balance out the darker colors and to brighten it up a little. Because I embossed the stamp image it helped me keep the colors from bleeding into one another. With this design, it made it so much easier! I used Altenew’s tall alpha stamp set for the “Fathers” sentiment that I embossed with Nuvo embossing powder in black onto vellum, and used Waffle Flowers, label greetings for the “Happy” and “Day” part of the sentiment. I put the strip of vellum across the center to allow the design to show up from behind. In the end, I really feel it was exactly what I was looking for and exactly what my dad needed. There is nothing better than encouragement from those you love. So when he said, the card looks very professional looking, I couldn’t have felt more proud.
Compared to this time last year, I have grown by leaps and bounds with my skill set and technique in my card making. It is amazing what some hard work and practice will do if you put your mind to it. I would not consider myself an artist by no means, but I have progressed, which I am very thankful for. The Altenew card courses have really helped me excel and push my skills to new levels, that I hope to continue to share with you. You can find the links to the products that I used for this card below.
I hope that you found this post helpful for the next time you are trying to create for the boys, and men in our lives. They are normally picky, but throw some blue in there and they get the drift. lol. My next post will be about building a scene on your cards. This will feature techniques like masking and scene building with handfuls of stamp images to create the desired effect. I went out of my way to buy a new stamp set to get this one taken care of, so I am super excited to share that with you soon. Lastly, I hope you remember, that we really can change the world around us with just one card at a time. Until my next post, keep up the hope!
