In My Thoughts Always-Layering Stamps

I hope that this post see’s you all doing well. With the loss, upset and uncertainty in our lives right now, I want you all to know that you are in my thoughts. We are not only card makers and creators, but we are an influence and can be that rallying force that someone needs to move forward, to have for support, or to just bring a smile.

Today, I want to bring spot light to layering stamps. It is a quick and easy way to create either one or many cards for those we love and care about. For all projects in this post, I am using Altenew floral layering stamps. I would suggest using what I consider to be a simplistic layering set, that doesn’t have more than 1 or 2 layers. I would then move onto a more detailed set, with 3 or more layers. I also highly recommend that if you haven’t tried layering stamp sets before that you start this way also.

My first spotlight stamp set is going to be Altenew’s, In My Thoughts. It couldn’t be more spot on. This set is simple but gives great results and is a great start for anyone new. Using any layering stamp set, is all about lining up the points around the stamp image itself. Using a Misti stamping platform allows you align the layers with minimum effort, making it smooth and simple! Once you are use to a stamp set, an acrylic block can be easily used as well. Below, you can see the easy but simple and beautiful results of this timeless stamp set from Altenew. No wonder they are known for having the best floral stamps in the business right? I used distress oxide inks on the stamp set below, and it has the perfect colors for Spring.

Altenew In my Thoughts Stamp set using Tim Holtz Distress oxide inks. The cardstock is from Craft Perfect. And the wonderful bling is from Studio Katia.

There are soo many creative variations that we can get from layering stamp sets. Just think of all the possibilities?! You can switch up the color; you can mix and match stamp sets; or even alter the layering of the stamps themselves for a more creative look. You name it. Do not limit yourself!

Below, I have created a stunning card inspired by things that I have around me. Lately, with all the stress from the pandemic, I have been meditating. I used one of my crystals in my craft room as a beautiful muse for my card below. I used a unique twist on this by throwing in a different stamp set instead of limiting myself to just one. I also offset the background stamps I used for a more artistic feel, that incorporated both of my color choices.

I know that things seem so out of control right now. Take a breath, take some time, and think of what we can offer to those around us. Our cards and creations can bring so much to those that really need it in this time of need. I also want to remind everyone, which is part of the reason why I decided to start this blog, is that we really can bring hope with creating one card at a time. I wish you all the best, and pray that you all find strength. Please practice safe crafting and safe sharing of your creations. I suggest if you do plan on mailing your cards, to put a sealed date on it so those receiving can adjust accordingly. Lastly, I think one thing that is well deserved is thank you ALL for everything that you are doing during this unprecedented time. Much hope always.

Congrats on your first post! It is very well written! I like the second photo a lot, it looks like you put in some effort 🙂 Even if you don’t add all the things next to the project (they look lovely btw and tell a story), the editing and lighting is very good.
Your cards look great, your first card would look even better had you photographed it like you did the second one 🙂
    Bravo on your first post!!
Thank you for entering your work to the AECP assignment gallery.

Love the color combos you chose for your cards and the added bit of shine on each! Yay, Group 17!!!
